Christmas Day can be filled with things that you need to do throughout the upcoming days. One thing that we may forget about is what to wear on Christmas Day.
Now there are so many possible outfit combinations to wear on Christmas Day, however, we have come up with a list of possible outfits you could wear this Christmas Day.
Outfits could range from a dress all the way to a comfy outfit option. Even though a comfy outfit may seem like little effort has been put in, you can make the outfit look chic and smart whilst being comfortable if you are busy throughout the day.
Dresses
When it comes to Christmas Day you want to feel comfortable in the dress, as there will be a lot of eating and movement.
So if you are thinking of wearing a dress this Christmas, you could always do a little test run with the dress. You could wear it at the dinner table or even out to dinner one evening, just to see if you can endure the food whilst wearing the dress. Especially if you decide to go out for food it means you can test the movement of the dress, how well you can walk in it and potentially rush around in it.
I would recommend a skater or tea dress style of dress. This is because it gives you the shape at the top of your body and then the dress flows out and falls over your hips and legs sort of like an A-line dress. Although this dress type may not be for everyone so just remember the dress has to make you feel amazing.
When it comes to patterns and colours you can never go wrong with the traditional Christmas colours – red, green, gold and silver.
I wouldn’t personally choose a white dress purely for the reason of ‘stains’. But if you are feeling brave and can be trusted around the gravy go for a white dress!
You could even have a sparkling dress so you really stand out this Christmas. Sparkles and sequins are perfect for the festive season.
Shirts / Blouses
If a dress is not what you are thinking will be the outfit choice this Christmas Day, you can never go wrong with a classy, smart shirt/blouse.
Blouses and shirts can be paired with a pair of jeans, a skirt if you still want that dress effect or if you are feeling that little bit ‘fancy’ so to say, a great pair of trousers can never go wrong.
If you are thinking of wearing a blouse and you want to smarten it up and look like a little bit more classy for Christmas Day whilst staying comfortable, why not go for a blouse with some embellishments, with decorative flourishes like sequins, applique, glitter or plates.
Your shirt or blouse could be the traditional Christmas colours, or you could opt for another bright colour. By going for another coloured blouse or shirt it means that you won’t potentially blend in with the Christmas decorations. That’s why pinks are fairly popular around Christmastime, not only is it a popular colour for clothing but a fair few people choose to decorate their Christmas Tree in the traditional colours.
Skirts
To go with your shirt or blouse or even a t-shirt, pair it with a skirt that is sure to wow your friends and family. Skirts are a great option especially if you’re going to spend the day eating delicious Christmas food. They’re also a great alternative if you aren’t a trouser type of person. We love the femininity of a pretty skirt.
If your top is more toned down and muted, have your skirt be the wow-factor. You could pair your top with a sparkling skirt or a metallic shine skirt. Or if your top is the piece that is making the statement, have a one toned colour skirt, this can be any colour, so long as it matches and goes with your top.
The skirt can be whatever length you feel comfortable with, though with the shine skirt, going for a more full-length skirt could be the way to go, as it means you can swish around the room wowing your guests.
Trousers
We love a good trouser shape for our Christmas Day outfit choice.
Go for a wide-leg trouser that flows and elongates the legs.
Trousers with an elasticated waistband, would be great for comfort and allowing for the great Christmas Day food intake.
Plaid is a very popular pattern to go for around Christmastime. You don’t even have to go for the typical red plaid pattern, you could switch it up and go for a blue and green pattern, still Christmassy and still classy.
Jumpsuits
To stay classy and elegant this Christmas and you are unsure of what you want to wear, you can never go wrong with a jumpsuit. Jumpsuits are an all-in-one piece, now yes it can be frustrating as you have to take the whole thing off if you want to use the bathroom but the comfort of jumpsuits is undeniable.
Jumpsuits suit practically all body types, you just have to find the perfect jumpsuit style for you. You could have a high neck, v-neck, cowl front or back, strapless, the list is endless. Then you come to the style of pant leg you can get, this can range from wide legs to slit legs to fitted.
With the colour of a jumpsuit, they normally come in all one colour, unless you have gone for a patterned jumpsuit then you will probably have two or more colours. The aim is to accessorize your jumpsuit outfit because it is only one item, you can spruce it up to make it look more dazzling. You can accessorize with a belt, a great pair of earrings, have your hair up or down depending on the neck or your jumpsuit and add a necklace.
Comfy Wear
Christmas Day can be quite hands-on, so if you really don’t have the time to choose an outfit and plan it don’t worry we’ve got you! A quick and easy outfit you can put together can be a festive coloured pair of leggings (or top) with a Christmassy jumper, whether it is a Christmas jumper, a patterned Christmas jumper or a knitted jumper.
Sometimes going for the comfy option is the best option, especially if you are going to be on your feet all day. And when it’s wintertime we do love being able to snuggle up in some lovely winter knits.
Choose cashmere for ultimate luxury and soft texture. A stylish cashmere jumper with a simple pleated skirt or cigarette pants is a super chic option for Christmas Day.
Accessories
With whatever outfit you choose to wear on Christmas Day whether it is the comfy wear option or the dress option. You can accessorize anything in order to make it look that extra bit classy this Christmas!
If you are accessorizing a dress it is best to find a necklace that will compliment your neckline, that way not attention is taken away from the dress nor brought to the dress, they compliment each other harmoniously.
This also applies to earrings, in all honesty with whatever top, dress, jumpsuit you decide to wear will determine how you are going to have your hair, meaning what earrings will be suited best. You could have simple studded earrings or large statement earrings the choice is yours to make, however, it must coordinate with your outfit.
Now with your hair, if you are going to have it down, it is always handy having a hair tie around your wrist, or you could opt for having a Christmas scrunchie. These are perfect for throwing your hair up quickly if you need to help in the kitchen, as playing an intense game of Charades or just eating Christmas dinner. You can wear your scrunchie if you decide to style your hair in an up-do, that way you can literally be Christmassy from head to toe.
We hope these ideas are getting you inspired to dress up for Christmas Day!
